Our Dolomite hiking experience is as unique as the culture and geological formations found in this very special part of the Alps. Typically we use one of the villages in the stunning Val Badia as our base (La Villa, San Cassiano or Corvara).

The “Crown Jewel” of the Alps is only one of the superlatives, none of which can begin to describe the beauty and awe you will encounter in Switzerland. Appenzell, Muerren (Berner Oberland), Zermatt, and St. Moritz (Engadin) are the base areas we most frequently combine to give you an unforgettable experience hiking around areas such as Säntis, the Matterhorn, the Jungfrau, stages of the long-distance Via Alpina, the falls of the Lauterbrunnen valley, the incomparable blue glacial waters of the Oeschinensee and the Val Bregaglia, just to name a few.

Equally as spectacular are the French Alps. With Chamonix as a base, we explore the Mont Blanc massif from Grand Balcon as well as experiencing the incredible views from Aguille du Midi, where we ride the highest vertical ascent cable car in the world.

AUSTRIA & DOLOMITES TOUR

Using Gosau, Austria as our base we explore the treasures of the “Salzkammergut” including fantastic hiking with views of sparkling alpine lakes. We explore the lakes and mountains of the Dachstein Massif, Hallstatt, St. Wolfgang and Altaussee including the option to visit the salt mines that provide the setting for the story behind the movie “The Monuments Men.” The salt mines of this area, from which it derives its name, have been in operation for 7,000 years and have supported some of the oldest civilizations of the Alps.

After four nights of unparalleled natural beauty and cultural immersion we travel to Italy to experience the natural grandeur that is the Dolomites. We will spend the next 5 nights in the Val Badia exploring the Dolomites, with its unique culture, languages, history, and, of course spectacular hiking (see our Dolomites Tour description). Your tour ends with time to explore either Salzburg or Munich (itinerary dependant) where you can enjoy a more cosmopolitan experience.
